This card necessarily combos with library destruction - The more cards you can take off the opponent's library, the more powerful a control-spell this becomes. After setup, you can counter anything, or destroy any creature at a low, converted-cost of 2. Personally, I don't find library destruction very attractive, because I don't like to win on a loop-hole. I would like to see the game made such that reducing the opponent's life total to 0 were the only way of winning. That said, library destruction as a peripheral factor (rather than as the primary means of winning), might be somewhat interesting, as it prevents the opponent from using the top card of their library to dictate a draw. If I were to pack a deck full of spells that removed cards from the top of the library as a side-effect, I might increase my grip on things quite a bit (eliminating scry, and such). Return spells that send a card to the top of the library, for example, might pose an interesting dynamic to practice manipulating. Powerful cards that require that a condition be first met are interesting to me, and I think there is a lot of potential in that idea. I don't know that the current design would permit me to do anything viable with Drown in the Loch (using the dynamics that I just described), but it is a card I'd like to keep in consideration - Current applications bore me, but the card itself might find a nice use in the future. |
