| Here's a very potent card, which will generally be a good side-board option. I discussed earlier that cards like Mind Bend or Shifting Sky can be used to manipulate a color association for the ability, but that is a bit over-powered, and I don't really respect that kind of play. As a side-board option, it would be an excellent way of quickly re-formulating to counter white - But, keep in mind that if your deck can already handle white effectively, other options may be superior. Meaning, when you find that you are vulnerable to big angel decks, or the like, this is a go-to. But, you may find it more strategic to focus on eliminating spells using discard - It all depends on the sort of plot you've formed, and what the strengths and weaknesses may be. Being a creature, Western Paladin is a volatile option - It has a very strong effect, but can be eliminated by an instant, as soon as one is drawn. Using it as a stand-alone contradiction for white will not be as reliable as it being part of a more subtle support system (Meaning, instead of only relying on the Paladin to protect against white, you might use a variety of spells and abilities that act as versatile control-factors). Check and balance, tinker and time. Play around for ever. |
