4/3/21 - "The Easter Zombie" Why is it that nearly all people who claim a faith in God FIRST profess a faith in a "church"? They will all immediately retort that their "first" faith is in God, and then their church. Why don't I believe that? Anyone can tell you anything about what they believe, all they really need to do is say it to you, and you will be expected to accept their response. I say that any practicing ritualist (a devout religious person) exhibits a faith in a particular set of habits, rather than relying upon their own mind, or a personal relationship with God. They'll tell you that their relationship with God IS the practice of their religion, but they won't be able to explain why, because they never really thought about it. "What good are your redundant rituals to God? Why do you think that He wants you to perform a choreographed show of physical worship?" Their explanations, like many other things about their religions, won't make much sense. This is why thinking men have always rejected the ritualism in religions, favoring their own intuitive understanding of reality over someone else's absurd claims about a knowledge of what God wants from us. "Where did all this DETAIL come from? Surely, you must realize, that some, very human, person was making it all up!?" My point here is not to make a mockery of human beings and their strange behaviors. My point is to give you the perspective of a rational philosopher, who observes these behaviors objectively. My point is also to show that it doesn't make sense that an all-knowing being would be concerned with anything so petty, rather than simply valuing His creatures for their REAL behaviors, instead of these superficial ones. If you go to church every week, while actively contributing to the destruction of the earth, I think God would overlook your superficial allegiance to Him, and judge you for your destructive behavior. What good is it to Him for you to SAY that you love Him, and want to do His will, while willfully disregarding intuitive reason, and participating in the horror of human pride? Above all, my point here is to show that human beings are worshipping their selves, and that their claim to be worshipping a higher source is clearly fraudulent, upon the simple observation that they outlined the instructions for worship to theirselves. Christians, for example, believe in a man who told them to "Eat His flesh and drink His blood. Do this in memory of Me." As far as I can tell, these are just people pretending to do something totally horrifying... But, that doesn't really surprise me. Why would you believe that God wants to physically sacrifice Himself for people, in the worst of ways, supposedly so that they can be forgiven for their wrong-doings? Wouldn't THAT be a wrong-doing (of the highest order) too? Instead of sacrificing ourselves to God, they believe that by feasting on the physical flesh of God made man, they will be forgiven and admitted to Heaven. This is not a reasonable belief. It is a "faith" that can't be shown to be founded upon anything other than irrational fantasy and hope. That must be what they think would NEED to be true, before they can psychologically accept reality. Just tell yourselves that reality runs by whatever set of rules you choose to imagine! It can be absolutely anything, and then you can all group together and just BELIEVE with all your might that it is the truth. I assure you, that if you were to rely upon your own reason to describe this reality (the world), you would find that religion has no place in your life. Don't tell me that I'm offending you. You're offending me whenever you refuse to use your mind in this way, and conduct yourself in observance of God's REAL law. Instead of mindlessly obeying the instructions of other men, try obeying your own mind. As long as you maintain honesty, I'm sure that you can do no wrong. The human mind has an inherent capacity for righteousness. It simply KNOWS right from wrong, but the primitive creature inside us all forever wants to defy that natural set of dictates. Don't let your bestial desires ruin your life. God can fill all of your needs, if you only wait for Him to guide you. |
